Why people end up with both
Because a missing remote is an emergency and a drawer is not a search engine. The original is somewhere. It is under a cushion, or in a bag, or it went out with a delivery box in March. Ordering another one takes a minute and finding the first one takes an afternoon, so the second one gets ordered, and then in June the first one turns up.
