Sound Bars

sound as a separate box

A sound bar takes one job out of the television and puts it in its own enclosure. Whether that is a second one depends entirely on what the television already does, and most of the television listings in this catalog do not say.

This page records channels, inputs, formats and remotes as each listing states them. It contains no opinion about how any of them sound, because nobody here has heard them.

  • Sound Bar for Smart TV with Bluetooth, ARC, Optical and AUX
    Only four inputs stated here

Bluetooth, ARC, optical and AUX together appear in one listing in this category. The others name two inputs, one input or none.

Sound Bar for Smart TV with Bluetooth, ARC, Optical and AUX

    • The sound

The listing states Bluetooth, ARC, optical and AUX inputs, auto volume boost, three equalizer modes and a detachable two in one design. Four stated inputs is more than any other bar in this catalog names.

    What the listing states

    • Four inputs are named, and no other listing in this category names four
    • Three equalizer modes are stated rather than described as sound presets
    • A detachable two in one design is stated
    • Auto volume boost is named as a feature of the bar itself

    What it does not

    • No channel count is stated, unlike three of the five listings in this category
    • The listing names no remote, unlike two of the five bars on this page
    • No audio format is named, so there is nothing to line up against the format claims elsewhere on the page

SuitsA television whose available connections are uncertain, where more named inputs is the safer bet on paper.

  • Samsung B-Series Soundbar HW-B400F, 2.0 ch, 2025
    Only surround expansion mode stated

Surround sound expansion appears in one listing in this category. Every other bar here names either a format or nothing at all in that space.

    Samsung B-Series Soundbar HW-B400F, 2.0 ch, 2025

    • The sound
    • The input

The listing states 2.0 channels, a built-in subwoofer, one remote control, surround sound expansion and a voice enhance mode. It is one of two bars here that names a remote, which is why it appears in the remote count on the front page.

    What the listing states

    • A channel count and a subwoofer are both stated
    • One remote control is named, so the box contents are partly on the record
    • Surround sound expansion and voice enhance are both named as modes
    • The model number is in the listing title, which makes it easy to identify

    What it does not

    • It states a remote, which is another remote arriving in a room that already has several
    • No inputs are named in the listing text quoted here
    • No audio format is named, unlike two of the five listings in this category

SuitsA room where the modes named on the box matter and a remote in the package is welcome rather than a problem.

  • Amazon Fire TV Soundbar, 2.0 speaker
    Only DTS Virtual:X stated here

DTS Virtual:X appears in one listing in this catalog. The other format claim in this category names Dolby Atmos instead.

Amazon Fire TV Soundbar, 2.0 speaker

    • The sound

The listing states a 2.0 speaker with DTS Virtual:X, Dolby Audio and Bluetooth connectivity. It is one of two Amazon Fire TV Soundbar listings in this catalog, and they state different channel counts, so the name alone will not tell them apart.

    • Two Amazon Fire TV Soundbar listings appear in this catalog with different stated channel counts. This is the 2.0 one.

    What the listing states

    • DTS Virtual:X is named, and no other listing in this category names it
    • Dolby Audio is named alongside it
    • A channel count is stated
    • Bluetooth connectivity is stated as the input

    What it does not

    • It shares most of its product name with another listing in this catalog
    • No remote is mentioned anywhere in the listing text quoted on this site
    • No subwoofer is stated, unlike the two listings here that state one

SuitsA Fire TV household that wants the format names on the box and does not need a stated subwoofer.

  • Bose TV Speaker, Soundbar with Bluetooth and HDMI-ARC
Only HDMI-ARC named in the title

One listing in this category puts HDMI-ARC in its own product title. Another states ARC among four inputs, which is a different claim in a different place.

Bose TV Speaker, Soundbar with Bluetooth and HDMI-ARC

    • The sound
    • The input

The listing states Bluetooth and HDMI-ARC connectivity, an all in one compact body and an included remote control. It is the only listing in this category that names HDMI-ARC in its own title.

    What the listing states

    • HDMI-ARC is named in the title, and no other listing in this category puts it there
    • An included remote control is stated, so the box contents are partly on the record
    • Bluetooth is stated alongside the wired connection
    • An all in one compact body is stated, so no separate box is implied

    What it does not

    • No channel count is stated in the listing text quoted here
    • No audio format is named
    • The stated remote is one more remote for the table

SuitsA television with an ARC connection where a single box and a stated remote are what is wanted.

  • Amazon Fire TV Soundbar Plus (newest model)
Only 3.1 channel count stated here

First in this category. The core job here is sound as a separate box, and this is the only listing stating 3.1 channels; the others state 2.0 or state no count at all.

Amazon Fire TV Soundbar Plus (newest model)

    • The sound

The listing states a built-in subwoofer, 3.1 channels, Dolby Atmos and clear dialogue. It states more channels than any other bar in this catalog, which is the plainest version of taking the sound job out of the television and putting it in its own box.

    • Two Amazon Fire TV Soundbar listings appear in this catalog with different stated channel counts. This is the Plus, at 3.1.

    What the listing states

    • 3.1 channels are stated, and no other listing in this category states that count
    • A built-in subwoofer is stated
    • Dolby Atmos is named as a supported format
    • Clear dialogue is stated as a named mode

    What it does not

    • The listing names no inputs at all
    • No remote is named, unlike two of the five listings in this category
    • Another listing in this catalog carries almost the same product name

SuitsA room that has decided the sound job belongs in a separate box, with the highest stated channel count here.

Questions about sound bars

Is a sound bar a second set of speakers?

Physically, yes, the television keeps the speakers it was built with. Whether that counts as doubling depends on what the television listing claimed about audio, and in this catalog most of them claimed nothing.

Do these come with a remote?

Two of the five listings here name a remote control. The other three do not mention one in the text quoted on this site, which is not the same as shipping without one.

Does this site rate the sound?

No. There are no listening claims anywhere on this site. Channels and formats are recorded because the listing states them.
